Heart Themed Decorated Cookies for Valentine's Day

Heart-Themed Cookies for Valentine's Day | The Crafting Foodie

I've expressed my love for Valentine's Day, so to continue celebrating everyone I love in my life; I made a set of Heart Themed Valentine's Day Cookies. The process and techniques are super straight forward, but I think the results are festive and perfect for Valentine's Day.

My favorite cookie in this set is definitely the ones that say "love".

My girls disagree, and they immediately clamored for the cookies doused in red sanding sugar. And of course, my husband is partial to what he calls, "the crunchiest cookies" (the little ones with just a touch of sanding sugar). It worked out perfectly. Each of us has a favorite so there's no need to share!

Sanding Sugar Cookie Decorating Instructions

1 - When baking the cookies, use a small heart shaped cutter to make a light indentation in the cookie prior to baking. This indentation will be used as a guide when icing the heart in the center of the cookie.

2 - Pipe and flood the white heart in the center of each cookie. Allow it to dry completely, about 24 hours.

3 - Pipe and flood the rest of the cookie with the red icing. Sprinkle sanding sugar on top of the wet icing, and carefully shake off any excess sugar. Allow the cookie to dry completely, about 24 hours.
